Thank you for your interest in supporting Jewish-inspired community investment. Here are the different ways for you to get involved with Tzedec:

Support Tzedec

Tzedec welcomes all contributions to support our extensive educational outreach and technical assistance to federations, synagogues, and other organizations interested in community investing in a Jewish context. Contributions to JFSJ are tax-deductible.

You can also make a grant for equity, which builds Tzedec’s net worth, loan loss reserve, and financial strength, or a grant for lending, which provides Tzedec with additional funds to invest in low-income communities.

Invest in Tzedec

You can make a loan of $18,000 or more to the Tzedec Economic Development Fund (TEDF), a national loan fund organized to pool investments from the Jewish community and place the moneys into community development financial institutions (CDFIs) throughout the United States.

Your investment can be unrestricted (available for lending nationally) or designated for a specific community in which Tzedec Initiatives are operating. Currently, funds can be designated for use in Baltimore, Boston, , Los Angeles, Philadelphia, South Florida, Washington, DC, and the Gulf Region.

TEDF is a wholly-controlled, nonprofit entity of The Shefa Fund. TEDF manages and holds Tzedec investments. The notes are not obligations of, or guaranteed in any way by, The Shefa Fund.

If you are interested in making a Tzedec investment to help create jobs, housing and community services in low and moderate-income neighborhoods, contact Laura Wintroub, Community Investment Officer, at lwintroub@jewishjustice.org or (212) 213-2113 x67.

Tzedec Notes are offered, in states where authorized, for a term of three, five or seven years plus 90 days, paying investors 0% (in the tradition of Hebrew free loan societies) or 1% interest.

This notice does not constitute an offer of the Tzedec Notes or any other securities. Offers shall only be made in states where authorized and by the applicable prospectus.

Tzedec Notes may be sold to Pennsylvania residents only when Notes have been registered with the Pennsylvania Securities Commission.

Introduce Tzedec to Your Community

Tzedec can visit your synagogue, JCC, foundation or other group to talk about Jewish involvement in the community investing movement. Each year, Tzedec staff appears at conferences, federations, Hillels, and many other venues to discuss our work. Get in touch with Laura Wintroub, Community Investment Officer, at lwintroub@jewishjustice.org or (212) 213-2113 x67 to arrange a visit!
