A Jewish Approach to Transforming Communities
The Jewish Funds for Justice Community Investment Initiative* is a socially responsible investment program created by the Jewish Funds for Justice and Calvert Social Investment Foundation ** . With as little as $1,000, Investors rebuild neighborhoods by helping individuals, families, and communities gain access to capital through local, experienced, community development lenders including banks, credit unions, and loan funds. The Initiative is facilitated through the purchase of Calvert Foundation's Community Investment Note and is lent to community development organizations that are providing economic opportunities in underserved communities. Your investment will support affordable housing, small businesses, and community facilities that are in need of affordable capital throughout the US.
In a society of great abundance, we can create opportunity through our financial investments. As Maimonides and generations of Jews have understood, a loan that helps an individual to become economically self-sufficient is far more valuable than a one-time gift. Investing leads to self-sufficiency and economic mobility, allowing those who have been disenfranchised by our economy to lift themselves up through their own skills and determination.
By investing through the Jewish Funds for Justice Community Investment Initiative, you partner with low-income communities to rebuild and revitalize their neighborhoods. Your investment enables residents to obtain the funds necessary to take control of their communities by buying homes, starting or revitalizing businesses, and creating health care, child care, and educational facilities.
